The rain cleared and we took off at 7am for our final hike…Reinebringen. Around 1200-1600 stone steps placed by Sherpas. Took us a little over an hour to get to the top and it was tough work, not to mention steep. We were huffing and puffing! The view was gorgeous though.
Now, the next day, my calves are sooooo sore. Strangely nothing else is.
Oslo bubble tea place called Teaology with a HUGE line. They allow you to order a split drink so I tried taro and mango which was fun.
Reinebringen hike….. ‘twas steep
Fresh legs, beginning of hike.
Leaving Lofoten!
The whole town of Oslo had tons of pride festivities going. This is Oslo airport.
Looking back on Reinebringen - arrow points to the lookout where we hiked to
Citybox Oslo. It’s kind of a hostel but has family rooms with bunk beds and our own bathroom/shower which was nice. Haha. I was attracted to booking this place because airbnbs were expensive and far from city center and we would have had to get two hotel rooms at double the cost if we wanted anywhere near city center. The location of Citybox was perfect. The room was quite small but suited our needs well. When we arrived in Oslo it was 80 degrees and we only had long sleeves and there didn’t seem to be a/c anywhere, including our room. We survived! Got me thinking though - I haven’t had to sleep uncomfortably hot or cold in a long, long time. How fortunate!!
Short 1+ mile hike along the highway before beginning our actual hike to Reinebringen! Parking is somewhat scarce.
Dae’s faux (but real) painful hiking steep stairs face. He was dyin’ but refused to give me his backpack even after multiple offers. We all made it intact! Kids were basically running up the stairs and we realized they’re at the perfect age where they have energy but aren’t complaining about being dragged places and on hikes.
Our Sørvågen Airbnb in the sunlight. Finally!
Streets of Oslo. Tons of people out and a nice shopping street here.
