We arrived on Monday evening and it is now Wednesday evening. The photos are a bit scrambled in order but I don't have the energy to unscramble them right now! The weather has been really nice. 50-65 degrees and sunny, so we've walked a lot and taken the subway a lot. We also mistakenly took a $40 cab ride today! Had no idea it would be so expensive. Japan is: very clean, very orderly, very quiet as far as people but loud as far as the music, electronics stores, gaming arcades, etc. We've noticed nobody is drinking coffee on the streets or on the subway. Also, we haven't seen anyone wearing sunglasses! Dae noticed that today and now it's our goal to find one native wearing sunglasses, and transition lenses don't count. haha. There are lots of Toyotas. There are lots of small electric bikes. Still tons and tons of people wearing masks. So many people wearing suits, and pretty much all dark suits and briefcases.

It was the inaugural Seattle-Tokyo flight for Japan Airlines so we got to eat cake and got a little treat bag (white - below) that had some decals, a little journal, and a few cute things like a small model airplane and a stuffed airplane keychain. The kids love their journals. Christian goes "mom, it's real leather!" (it's not.... :) |

Narita Express train from Narita airport to Shinjuku - our stop |
Toyosu Fish Market - it used to be Tsukiji fish market but changed locations late last year. Below us was the famous fish auction that is held every day from 5:30-6:30am. There were some large tuna out there. |
Sushi for breakfast at this little stand at the Toyosu Fish Market. Kids had ramen next door. |
Our apartment in Shinjuku. Randomly has this projector in lieu of a TV, and also home to the world's smallest bathroom ever. It might even be smaller than the bathroom we had on the Disney Cruise ship room! |

Streets of Shinjuku |
Drink vending machines are everywhere |
Gashapon machines - little toy machines. I think I was more excited about these than anyone else in the family. |
Fat jiggling machine at the Yodabashi Camera Store in Akihabara. This camera store is a huge store that is 6 stories high with a humongous toy section on the 6th floor. |
Ameyayo Street - food stalls and shopping stalls |
Subway |
1000 pound tuna caught in 1986. (replica, obviously) |
More Toyosu Fish Market. We were able to get to the auction portion because we were jet lagged and up very early. You can't hear anything from the viewing areas but you can see through glass. |
Waiting outside a good sushi restaurant in Ameyayo, We then hit this ramen shop across the street which was delicious. |
You order and pay for your ramen from this menu and then bring your ticket inside and take a seat. |
This was the sushi restaurant we went to in Ameyayo - really good. |
Took the kids to this indoor amusement park named Tokyo Joypolis on Odaiba Island and it was pretty fun. We spent a few hours here. |
Teeny tiny restaurant in Shinjuku. A small bar with 6 burners and you stand while eating. The meat was SO good. |
Streets of Ameyayo |
6th floor of Yodabashi camera - huge and overwhelming sensory overload |
Inside the sushi restaurant and playing chopsticks with Olin. |
