Adventures in Advent, DIY microneedling, Chess Tournament #2

These kids better realize how lucky they are! Last night's movie was "Home Alone" with microwave popcorn that nobody ate and Pirate's Booty that everybody ate instead. It seriously took Dae about 25 minutes to queue up the movie downstairs on our projector TV after having to fill and refill in multiple e-mail and password fields. :) Christian LOVED Home Alone and I think Olin liked it but he sometimes acts ratty and won't admit that he likes something.

This morning's Advent was met with a little less enthusiasm...(see Sunday, Dec. 2 listing)

After my first at-home micro needling session. Sold! Especially if you remember back to my professional sessions...

Morning After. SO much better than the red craziness I experienced over the summer.

Chess tournament #2 at Lewis & Clark. The field was definitely more competitive. Olin won his first game, lost his next two (he was bummed out) and rallied back to win his last two and place 2nd in 1st grade! Christian won his first, lost his second, won his third, lost his fourth, won his fifth and won 5th place in 4th grade! My mom friends and I are laughing about how in to chess we have become. We were clueless before. Now we know who our kids are playing and their rankings and if you win you play harder and harder people and if you lose you play easier and easier people.  Both kids came out of the last tournament with big goals: Christian said his goal was to win all 5 games, and Olin said his goal was to beat a girl in his grade and school who always places higher than him in the tournaments. Olin accomplished his goal this tournament and was happy about that. Christian didn't accomplish his but I am glad that they have set goals for themselves.

Our school took home 2nd place in the K-2 category.

They ran around for about 30 minutes between 3rd and 4th game. They need the physical activity during the day, otherwise it's a long day of playing and being sedentary.

Christmas lights! As always, our male-pattern-baldness light distribution on this tree (bald top, lighted circumference)

Christian took both these photos. Funny squatting.
