Lemonade (+ Produce) Stand

The kids joined forces with AJ and her massive amounts of organically grown produce and set up shop in front of our house from 3-5pm yesterday. As luck would have it, our neighbor across the street was hosting 25 people and needed tons of fresh produce, so their family bought $30 worth of produce within the first 5 minutes. That got the stand off to the right start.

We even put signs on G Way this time! I am not sure if it helped or not.

Olin still had his name tag on from tennis camp, which ended up being a nice touch (at least I thought so), so I put name tags on the other two shopkeepers. haha. This girl Ariel is from across the street.

Rhubarb, basil, blueberries, arugula, kohlrabi, cabbage, apricots, kale.....and lots more. They also sold homemade jam. And AJ and Heather had made fresh strawberry puree to add in to the lemonade and the strawberry lemonade was very popular.

A Shiner, and Well-Child Visits

He got injured a few times yesterday at Richland Parks & Recs tennis camp. He bumped in to a 2 year old at the park with his eye, and got a bit of a black eye. Olin does not like tennis camp.....

Well child. Olin is holding steady at 3% on the height chart.

Christian is holding steady at 25% on the height chart.

I tried to get them to recreate a photo from a few years ago when they were both wearing these hilarious shorts but Olin didn't want anything to do with it. (He might become very angry if he spots this photo in my line-up.)

Orthodontia

Christian had his first consult with Dr. Almond, the orthodontist. He will begin Phase 1 treatment (palatal expander) in about a month. In a couple of years, we will see how his teeth progress and see if he needs Phase 2. Dr. Almond says about 19/20 kids need Phase 2.

His main orthodontic issues are: crowding, class II division I bite (overbite and overjet), midline shift (midline is off by a few mm). He doesn't have a super narrow arch on the upper, but his teeth are big enough that his palate could use some expansion. Orthodontists don't as routinely take out premolars as they used to when we were young. He said esthetically it is better to keep the premolars, and can help avoid sleep apnea in the future due to arch width.

Christian was nervous for his orthodontic appointment but left saying "I loved it there!".

6 and 7 (lateral and canine) are kind of on top of each other.

Well of course he loved it - look at these arcade games!

And the free cookies that we got next door.

Seattle and Portland by Planes, Trains, Automobiles, Link Rail, Lyft, Bus, Max

I rode every possible source of transportation available this past week, except maybe bicycle taxi or watercraft. It was well worth after calculating all those savings in taking public transport rather than private!

Kids and I Amtrak'd to Portland, I dropped the kids off with cousins, Lyfted to PDX, flew to Seattle that night, Link Railed it to our condo, bussed it to my conference in Bellevue the next day, bussed it back the next night, bussed it back the next morning and bussed it to the Seattle airport to fly back to PDX, where I took the max and Lyft back to Ev's house. I was pretty tired actually. haha. I was lugging my luggage around with me on nearly every one of those buses and rails. And on the Bellevue-Seattle bus there was standing room only for about 50 minutes. But it was worth it!

Train sure is comfortable.

I thought this was an amazing photo! Ha!

Caught them like this 2 times.

Ev sent me this photo after little guy had some allergies at the horse barn. He gets such bad allergies.

Big 40th night out for Terra (middle) at Daniel's Broiler on the top floor of our hotel. Was a nice, calm night of 6 of us chatting for a few hours.

FaceTiming kids on the trampoline

Met up with Megan at the condo and went to dinner and drinks!

Father's Day 2018 and San Juan Island

MBar (rooftop bar and restaurant) for a ritzy dinner with Dae's coworkers and medical reps.  Not totally kid friendly establishment. haha. But they did fine.

Mmmm. Crumpet Shop. Dae still loves strawberry preserves and cream cheese. Leelee likes nutella the most. Olin likes nutella as well as green eggs and ham and cheese. I like strawberry preserves and peanut butter.

They kept doing this Olin-in-between-Christian's-legs pose

We met Megan and Tate at this fun restaurant called Bongos on Aurora.

Bus dropped us off right at the restaurant!

Huge cargo barge. Nice views the entire weekend...

Day Trip to San Juan Island! I've never been and have wanted to go. My planning was a bit off, as the ferry took pretty much 5 hours to arrive and 3 hours to return. And we had a grand total of 3 hours of time on the island after all that ferry time....but still....gorgeous.

Friday Harbor

3-wheeled moped rental. Super fun.

Father's Day! Golf book (Tiger Woods) for Dae and a card.

Heartwood Provisions for a delicious dinner.

Selfie with kids squeezed in on the walk home.

Chores & Rewards, Week 2

Still at it...

Onnie's pretty backyard. He set himself up to read there while Olin was having his lesson. Thanks Mal & Didi for the book!

Typingclub.com. Christian is getting better at typing with the correct fingers. He is also getting better at knowing where the keys are. haha. The kids had pretty much no clue where any of the keys were. They don't really use computers at their school until 4th-ish grade.

License, Cousin, Mime!

Christian passed his driver’s test! Didi and Ev visited for 3 nights and happened to be here while Christian took his test, which was super ...
