Kauai Interruption for some Rumblings

Some miscellaneous island rumblings: Usually it's expected that people come back from Hawaii and say it was the best vacation ever, but....my goodness. I don't know if it's the ages (3 years and 10 months), the disposition of our oldest child, our dispositions, or lack of good sleep, but we have been in a constant state of semi-irritation I would say most of the trip. Leeleee has been pushing our buttons to the max. Nothing is easy. Something as simple as buckling a carseat will turn into a 10 minute battle of wills, with Leelee shouting "I wanted to do that one!" and Dae trying to contain his growing impatience. Putting clothes on turns into us chasing a crazed child around and around while he laughs hysterically and tests our every last nerve. Getting into the pool and staying in the pool becomes 30 minutes of a very loud "No...no....no!" which I am sure our lovely neighbors at Regency Poipu Kai absolutely love. Leelee loves kicking and being rough with the baby. He will do it, say "Sorry!" right away, and then go ahead and do it again even when we tell him not to. Time-outs have become commonplace and are being racked up like frequent flyer miles. We (ok I, and sometimes Dae) have been hitting the Corona and bubbly like they're going out of style. It has not been easy!

I don't mean to gripe, but sometimes I read back on previous posts and feel like I am painting a deceiving portrait of a perfect trip and sometimes it is anything but!

Alright, we are off to a Hamburger shack we read about in our book and online. Since both kids screamed for an hour in lieu of a nap, we are crossing our fingers they will fall asleep in the car ride over, back, or both.

We're back. Here are some iPhone photos from the burger shack (good) and the shave ice (not good, was more like a sno-cone).

  1. You and Dae just need to retake this same vacation, without the two little "lively" ones. :)

  3. Nothing is easy with two kids, in my opinion...especially when one is whining all the time (like mine!). :)
