First Day of School

 

This was freshman day on Monday where only freshman attend, there are some mixers in the gym, and then they go around to each of their classes for 10 minutes.

Amy had us over for a luau themed birthday dinner celebrating me, Dae, Erik and Olin. All our birthdays are clustered within two weeks. She even ordered personalized chopsticks for all of us!

Hanford Reach (White Bluffs) hike. This hike was pretty cool because you hike 2 miles to these cool sand dunes. However, it was definitely a little hard to find! It didn't really show up on GPS so we used written instructions and weren't in the right place for a while. We were about to give up but then we saw the trail leading off of this little offshoot dirt road. It was also a pretty hot day but the kids were troopers.

ASB day! The was always a fun day. We went with them while they got their cards, and school pics, and their class schedule.

Nothing like the last day of summer for me to start exploring local hikes. This is Twin Sisters rocks on the way to Walla Walla about 25 miles away. It was a fun scamper up to these rocks and took no more than 15 minutes.

 

Olympic Peninsula

I've wanted to go to the Olympic Peninsula for some time, especially since we're so close every time we're in Seattle. We finally made it happen! I rented an airbnb in Port Angeles and followed a blog which outlined a 2 day itinerary. We had a great time, even with plans that didn't quite pan out (too wide to rent canoes at Lake Crescent, too smoky to see the breathtaking views at Hurricane Ridge).

Lake Crescent. Too windy for canoe rentals so we dipped our feet in to the water and called it good! The water was surprisingly not cold.

Happy 47th Birthday Babz!!!

 

Our first homemade ice cream cake! Strawberry ice cream, Oreo cookie crust, whipped cream (on the side) and fresh strawberries. Babz loves his strawberries. He ate an entire quadrant today.

Third family flat tire in like 2 months! I drove right in to Les Schwab and he fixed it with me sitting in the car. hahaha

We gave Olin one of his birthday presents early because his old iPad is not working well for Minecraft. He was so excited! 

Lots of lounging during our sisters and mom overnighter in Seattle with my mom. We love lounging.

It was really fun to meet up with Andrew and Anh, which was quite random but worked out well. We went to Gasworks park and caught the tail end of a meteor shower and beautifully lit downtown Seattle. It was gorgeous!

Yang Family Reunion 2023

I think we had a turnout of 70 people in Pacific Grove, California (Monterey) at the Asilomar Conference Grounds. It was really nice to see and catch up with my mom's side of the family and meet some new babies!

Family Olympics included a 5 minute plank challenge. Both the kids and Ev did 5 minutes!
