Kauai! The first four days

Our airbnb owners wrote and said there have been lots of turtles out at Poipu Beach at sunrise with the reduced amounts of tourists. So we went out at sunrise on day 2 and were greeted by this cute fellow. This is before we saw the 'maintain 10 foot distance from turtles' sign!

These doors open up to this very nice patio area. It makes the whole living space really nice and open.

He has been talking about and doing his schoolwork a lot this trip. Very serious student.

Poipu Beach. A quick 5 minute walk down the path from our place and our place has a wagon - crucial!

We see these everywhere and in many colors!

Our daily walk back from Starbucks or coffee at Poipu Village. The kids say it's 'such a long walk' which is .8 miles which elicits an eyeroll from me.

Bought snorkels at Costco and kids have really enjoyed snorkeling in the shallow Poipu Beach waters. There are a surprising number of fish right in here!

We were all so excited to just be on a plane.

Deep sea fishing! Waters were rough. I took a full dramamine, Christian took a full, Olin took a quarter, Dae took a half. Christian threw up and I was quite nauseous and then proceeded to nap at home from noon off and on until bedtime and then woke up this morning!

Airbnb experience of Polynesian fire dance and drumming at this local guy Phil's house near Kapa'a. Was really cool. Both kids practiced their fire stick enough to actually be able to do the fire dance with the fire lit. Scary!

The drumming was really cool too. It was surprisingly hard to keep up the beat but when we all got it it sounded cool.

So many bright rainbows!

Photo out of order, but these were the yellowfin tuna we caught! Probably 5-8 pounders. We ate some that day. Seared and raw. Seared was delicious.

Poor Gug

Spinner dolphins alongside our cruise up to Napali coast this morning.

The Napali coast by boat is really stunning

Side note: We had an unfortunate repeat of 2012 where we snorkeled off of our ship and Dae (again) declined a floatation device and (again) panicked. Christian actually yelled for help (poor guy) as Dae was doggy paddling and panicking and the captain jumped in with a floatation device. I believe Dae has learned that he absolutely is not water safe! Goodness gracious...

We recovered with Waikomo shave ice. It was very scrumptious. They put a coconut, honey and fresh fruit topping on each shave ice and ice cream on the bottom. The mango and passionfruit combo was delicious. Olin did not like his blood orange but he did like his guava.

We've all enjoyed this mix from Costco. We've eaten all of it and need more. haha.
