Fall Homeschool

Back to the multiple alarms. The kids have a few zoom meetings throughout the day. For the most part, they remember their own meetings, but I haven't figured out an alarm system for them to use on their own so I set my alarms just in case.

Both boys got really in to ukulele after Olin got a nice one for his bday so we can now sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "Let It Be", and "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars with kids on ukulele and me as very bad vocals

Avengers cake for AJ

Tired of complaints. I implemented this this morning - haven't made any $$ so far, which is great.

Stood on this chair to get closer to the overhead speaker and listen to a song I made them listen to

Mangosteen. Delicious!

Another small pup! At the left base of stem

Olin's seed kit from puops is doing very well. Each of them have sprouted!

New Pier! Either 61 or 62 I can't remember but it's right by our house and it's nice

Fire Season 2020

The West Coast is getting hit with an enormous numbers of fires. While we are thankfully not in immediate danger at this time, the smoke is heavy in all areas we frequent (Seattle and Richland).

Life in 2020 is definitely not the same as life in 1971!

In-house surgeon! Removing my ganglion cyst. He aspirated this jelly-like substance out of my left wrist which was really cool. I wish I had taken a photo of the jelly. In true Dae form, he went in with no fear and numbed it and then stuck in that huge 18 gauge needle to pull out stuff. It didn't pull out the first couple of tries when he pulled back, and then some stuff came out.
Now, finally my wrist has no pain when I bend it and I can do push-ups.....hooray. haha.

The only reason I let Dae do it at home is because I had the exact same cyst on my right wrist 20 years ago at UW and they aspirated it out. They had to do it on two separate occasions for it to go away so I knew it was a simple procedure and that it could work, even if it takes a couple tries. It was seriously so nice to get 'surgery' done in the comfort of my own home.

The End of Summer

Summer has ended but the homogeneity of life at home has not. :)

Old neighbor Erin Dillon, Kelly and my fams floating the river! Erin on the left-most board.

Christian took this photo and thought it was absolutely hilarious. Pretty much a real-life photo of our day to day. Me, waking up, iced coffee, trying to figure out some sort of workbook for the kids while they do chores (procrastinate chores).

Hilarious birthday gift from Megan. Spike fit.....barely! Hopefully the results of that exercise wheel will start to show.

Cake for Adrienne! Nel, Jo, C & O pretty much made and decorated the whole thing which was awesome.

These roses are really fun to make. As Christian pointed out to me, the trick is to fold over the first petal so that it covers the 'bud', otherwise the big bud doesn't look real or right.

2012 and 2020

First Day of School!

They're in small pods of groups (5-6 students per group) and they go to school one time per week for 3 hours. Still, when I dropped them off this morning it felt exhilarating for all of us to 'have school'.

Spike Lee Growth Updates

He weighs 652 g today.

He has gained at the rate of 1.9 g/day for the past couple of weeks (he's down from his prior 3.5g/day gain).

We put in his new green wheel and he actually uses it in the evenings. It's fun to watch.

Happy 9th Birthday Olin!!!

We love you so much!!!

We hope you enjoyed your quarantine birthday!!!

For Olin's birthday, he asked for crescent rolls for breakfast, Mandarin House for lunch, and Korean noodles for dinner. We polished off our day with homemade cake and a bevy of ice creams.

Piñata for the four of us family members. Kids had never gotten a piñata for one of their birthdays and Olin said "this day just keeps getting more and more interesting. We're doing all these new things!"

Seed kit from puo puo

Gifts! Camera from Auntie Ev, seed kit and hedgehog container from puops, $ from H&H, Legos from Safranskis, Amazon card from Kincaids, Ukulele (too small), camera tripod, book and new cube from us, fishing tackle box from Hoins, book and game from AJ.

Christian did the bulk of the decoration of this cake. He could roll the swirls better than I could and the quality of his craftsmanship was higher. We worked on this for about 2 hours rolling these things and I was fading pretty fast and Christian pretty much gave me pep talks "we're almost done mom!"

Celebrated my birthday the day prior with some great relaxation, and a dinner at Anthony's. I got various knickknacks: hard boiled egg maker, nut strainer bag, and case for my Airpods, beautiful vase,  Vitamin C serum, as well as a Yeti from Ev!

The numbers read 4-2-7. It signifies 43 (but we needed a 2+1 instead of a 3 and we didn't have a 1 so we used a 7!)

Hard at work making Olin's bday cake. Christian asked "are you making your own cake?"

Got him at a full spike for my birthday

License, Cousin, Mime!

Christian passed his driver’s test! Didi and Ev visited for 3 nights and happened to be here while Christian took his test, which was super ...
