Didn't take Long

It didn't take long (or much!), but I think Christian is officially smarter than me, at least in some areas:

1) We drove past a train and heard the Doppler effect. Christian goes "mom, do you know why the train sounds different as we pass?" I told him that I knew that that happens, but I didn't really remember why. He proceeded to tell me about the sound waves and their length and how the frequency (pitch?) was different with the different lengths as the train gets closer. Something to that effect.

2) The kids get grossed out when there's crusted leftover smoothie in their straws. I pulled out the straw cleaner I had forgotten about and started showing them how to do it. I was like "it's kind of hard to push in but you just have to keep pushing..." and Christian goes "I think you're supposed to put it in the other way". hahaha. He was right and it was way easier.

My method, trying to shove the 3 cylinders in

The correct method. Pulling the 3 cylinders through.

I made croissants from scratch for the first time. They were extremely labor intensive. I think they tasted decent, but both batches were in a smoke-filled oven because the copious amounts of butter that are used dripped all over the bottom of the oven. So I tasted the smoke for sure.

Olin at baseball practice on a beautiful sunny day

Piano - practicing for Guild adjudications. Last year I panicked with two weeks left to go and basically none of their 8 pieces memorized for either kid. (Never mind memorized, not even played well!) This year I started a month in advance and it was definitely less panicked, but it's still a major crunch, with me sitting in on their practices and helping them every day leading up to adjudications. It is being held May 8 this year.
