A Day in the Life (Halloween Edition)

I'm always inspired to do my Day-in-the-life on Halloween. So, here we go...

Kids and Dae got up 6:30ish and took a shower together, as evidenced by the fine wall art on shower wall. I slept in until...

6:56am. Haphazard bed making. I always make the bed, however poor of a job it may be. Dae left for a Monday work meeting around 6:45am this morning.

Dressed and ready for the day! They sometimes putz around in their PJ's forever, but this morning since they showered they got dressed. I am embarrassed to say they definitely do not shower every day. Far from it.

Checking on the dehydrator since the fruits weren't ready last night. Olin liked the fruit roll-up (apple + banana) but Christian did not. (What's it take to impress kids these days??)

Not our every day breakfast but since it's Halloween, I thought why not.

Christian stirring the batter, Olin playing Restaurant with his "restaurant pad"

I feel like we do dishes every day. And yet I still wake up and this is what was awaiting me. Grrr. With urging, Dae is good about helping out with dishes. haha. But it's a never ending chore I tell you.

I squeezed in a new blog post so it wouldn't get jumbled up with today's day-in-the-life.

Eating breakfast at the round table. Lately they've been eating: smoothie (healthy, and forced down their throats practically), cereal, milk, Dannon Activia yogurts. Bagels on a special occasion. Turkey bacon when I remember, which is almost never.

Every day you will find me with some sort of Korean sheet mask on my face, sometimes in the morning and sometimes evening. This morning it was the undereye patches. They feel cool and good. My hair is always a morning mess and I have worn this Washington shirt for 2-3 days straight :)

Loving a homemade Americano with heavy whipping cream (none of this half & half business)

Waiting for carpool to arrive. Christian in his costume for Halloween school celebration.

Alaina arrives to take them to school. Carpool is the best.

And they're off!
Bills bills bills bills bills (to the Rihanna soundtrack). I actually like paperwork so paying bills is not so much a chore as, say, doing dishes.
Laundry.
Folding laundry. Dae makes it home just in time to help!
See that big smile? That's the signature off-to-golf smile. Big row of pearly whites.
Going for a run in the flattering combo of visor and headband
What we always do: Kelly and I meet in the middle
We've been running for four years

Today's to-do list. All fun stuff. Except lice spray - there was a reported kid at Olin's school with lice so I"m not taking any chances

Dae hit Hobby Lobby with me to get some face painting supplies. I made him stand in a separate line so we could each get 40% off - I forgot to get a photo!

Love Curry lunch. Butter chicken and naan were excellent.
Target for lice spray
Quick internet session to plan our Europe trip for spring break! woohoo!!!
Olin got to ride in Aditi's car from his school to Christian's school today. Lucky guy got snacks too.
At Christian's school we all get in a line and pull up to fetch our kids.
After school, my passenger seat is always filled with the kids' paperwork and lunches

Carpool with Henry and Claira (aka Harry Potter and Claira)
Getting the mail.
Piano practice. Leelee is asked to do 25 minutes per time and 5 times per week.
He has lots of duets right now. It is fun playing together.
Dae asked if the kids wanted their ears cleaned and of course they always do. Piano got interrupted for an ear cleaning session.
Grapes and work. They are always hungry the second they get in the door. They can never wait. It drives me crazy because I'm always juggling a whole bunch of items in the door and before I even have a chance to set them down they are telling me how hungry they are. Regarding their work, I currently make Christian do some math and reading comprehension around 4 times per week, and I make Olin read his books from school or do vocab flashcards and math flashcards about 4 times per week.
Using my fancy food processor (thanks Dae!) for dinner. We are bringing Chinese burrito ingredients over to Kelly's.
Our front door. I left our bowl of candy and a sign for trick-or-treaters.
Arrival at Kelly's for Halloween festivities.
Facepainting JoJo

Mimes
Trick-or-treating
Sifting through loot
Always peeing before bed. If not, bedwetting occurs with Olin. They usually head to bed around 7:30pm or 8:00pm.
I still brush both of their teeth although I trust Leelee would probably do a pretty good job by himself. I love kids' sonicares.

Dae reading to them. We read to them every night. However, our book selection has not matured much since they were little. We are still doing a lot of Elephant & Piggy, Berenstain bears, Curious George, etc. I think it's time to graduate to some bigger-kid books!
Washed off all my face paint and brushed off all the candy.
Olin always comes in at least one time to tell us something imperative that simply cannot wait until morning. Lately he has been coming in multiple times.

Late(r) October Happenings

First-time pumpkin carving for every single person in our family

Every afternoon while waiting for Christian to emerge from school, Olin plays with Claira and Aditi

These guys sleep with a dizzying array of items on their beds. Some examples: Books, stuffed animals, swords, trophies, extra blankets.

ASE soccer group

Straight from ASE soccer (in costume) to Costco and a cart

This photo reminds me of one of those black and white photos with the intentional pop of pink. haha! (Christian wants to caption this photo "him trying to fly"). Olin took this photo.
