Training for Camp

Christian has a 2 night overnight camp in Newport Beach, Oregon at the end of this month. I had some hesitation since he's so young, but everyone in his school goes (29 kids) and I have heard great things about the last 2 years.

The teacher preps them quite a bit. In preparation, she asked that they break in new hiking boots, if they get them, do some practice hikes, and have practice sleepovers if they haven't already. Alaina and I have been checking things off of this checklist and got two more checked off this past week: sleepover and breaking in hiking boots.

First real sleepover at Henry's house. He has slept over with cousins or Kelly's girls but is always with Olin and usually with me there too. He and Henry had a great time.  He said they stayed up talking about their stuffed animals (hehe) and woke up and had French toast for breakfast.

Badger Mountain with this passel of kids + a dog. It was successful and we all made it to the top but Olin was in the Beco at least half the time and Leelee was complaining more than usual this trip. Maybe because it was a little hotter.
We got Olin's class photo back. Bottom row, second from right. Marked improvement from last year's photo (below).
Olin's class photo, circa 2015. Lower right, all attitude.
Home Depot kids' craft morning. They made a toolbox. I remember when Olin was so much shorter than their table tops and now his head clears the table. Sigh!
