Camp!

We dropped Leelee at school at 5am this morning to take the school bus to camp. I was definitely sad.

He was so cute, his little head and hand waving from the bus as they were leaving. He is SO excited for camp. I am so glad!

I am already missing and worrying about him!

Cute photo I screen-shotted from their baseball website.

Raisins, Pickles and Peanut Butter

Olin said: "I have a great idea. I am going to cook you dinner. I need three things: Raisins, Pickles and Peanut Butter"

Um....Yum (?)

Surprisingly tasty

The Dalles with the Dentists, and Bike Day at Sagebrush Montessori

When Minah and Selynn and I convened at the Dalles, Oregon on Friday night we all came with the same comments - 'everybody asked why we were meeting at the Dalles!" - hahaha! The Dalles did not disappoint. We tagged along with Minah to help her cross off 2 hikes amongst her 52 hikes in a year, and we took two naps (I did at least), and we hit up the Grocery Outlet for some great deals.

Spring Happenings

Henry spent the night Tuesday, in preparation for camp. They shared a bed and had a good time. Olin kept wanting in on the action and keeps asking me when he gets a sleepover.
At the beginning of the year Olin kept asking when "Miss 'laina" was going to pick him up from school. I said she wasn't going to since Claira doesn't get off at the same time anymore. Well when Alaina heard about this she said she wanted to pick him up and take him on a lunch date, so she took him and Annie to Porter's BBQ and then Frost Me Sweet for a cupcake. Lucky kids.
I asked Dae's parents for some old photos to hang up together with photos from my side of the family, and his dad delivered! Here are some oldies and definitely goodies...
Dae as a tot. Dae's mom told me he was chubby, even when he was born. :)
Here's Olin at 10 months, for comparison. Olin definitely looked more like Dae than Christian did. Not exact, but there are similarities (the side part in both photos helps the resemblance!)

Vegas with Kelly & Al, plus First Little League Game!

We just returned from 3 nights with Kelly & Al in Vegas, subsidized in part by Hilton Elara's timeshare presentation (ha!).  Our total for 3 nights was quite cheap, and the timeshare presentation was the least painful timeshare presentation Dae and I have ever been to. And we've had our fair 'share' of 'timeshare' (pun intended)!

I think we've gotten smart: We did not stay out past midnight (not even close), only got a total of 45 minutes of sun and pool time in, and refrained from excessive shopping or money spending. We managed to go to sushi and White Castle and the Bellagio Buffet and saw a comedy show and Absinthe at Caesars. Kelly and I also visited our new beauty consultant, Russell, at Walgreen's twice and procured all sorts of samples and make-up tips. A great weekend!

At home, Halmoni and Haraboji held down the fort. They said the boys "fight way less than they used to. They used to fight all the time and now they don't fight!". Phew....

Leelee had his first Little League game. I so wish I had been there. :( He said they won the game, and that he managed to slide into one of the bases and he played catcher and right field.

It was COLD the first day. Ok maybe 68 degrees, but it still felt cold.

Back home, with Henry

The last time I pulled out these velcro rollers, I was in Vegas.

Comedy show. I was doubtful about comedy shows, but these comedians were very funny.

Waiting to get hot dogs, while waiting for our show to start

These dogs were humongo

White castle after the show. Dae was going to spring for the 20-burger pack until we convinced him we only 'needed' 10.

A Story about Macadamia Nuts

Olin goes through phases where he really enjoys himself some macadamia nuts. At the ABC store in Maui, he spotted a can of the nuts right away and goes "Mom, this snack is really good for you! Can I have it?"

I said sure!

We then peruse the store, the kids sniff out more things, including those Hawaiian flower hairpins that they want to "get for me" (with our money...haha). Each kid had picked a flower and they couldn't decide between the two, so when we saw that Olin had the nuts in one hand and the flower hairpin for me in the other, Dae and I told him he could choose one. He thought silently for a moment, and very slowly and carefully placed the can of macadamia nuts back on the shelf. It was so sad! I thought for sure he would put the flower hairpin back. So of course we caved and said he could have the nuts and still give me the flower.

Five minutes later, we're over in the toy vehicle section and once again told Olin he would have to pick between the nuts or this bus thing. He again started slowly walking back over to the nuts section to put back the nuts. At this point we were not about to quibble over giving the boy some extra nuts on top of a toy, so in the end we made out with the 1) victorious can of macadamia nuts, 2) flower hairpin for me, and 3) one vehicle for each boy.

Each time Dae and I thought about him sadly putting the can of nuts back on the shelf we would laugh.

Underwater Photos from Maui +

We're home! We got placed on a red-eye when our original daytime flight was canceled. It was rough, but the kids slept well.

Enthralled with the hula dancers - especially the 'keiki' dancers. (kid dancers :)
Watching the Masters at lunch.

Olin's 'excited' face. He does this all the time, and tenses his entire shoulders and hands. It's like a tic
Father and son snorkelers, heading in to the treacherous waters. Both boys snorkeled! They mildly liked it.

Me and Christian. We held hands and snorkeled. :) I love these masks we got on Amazon!

Olin went on this slide, by himself, over and over and over. We didn't even bother walking up with him, he just walked up by himself, in his little water wings.

Leelee's lips

Most beautiful picture ever

All Leelee wanted to do was pass this ball back and forth, and all Olin wanted to do was go on the slide

Golly these kids loved this steaming hot hot tub. We had to drag them out of there every time.

Surf lessons!

Please disregard the fact that my 'hang loose' was faced the wrong way in every photo

Olin rode tandem with Caroline, his instructor. Every time they caught a wave, the instructor would pop the boy up on the front to surf. Super cute.

Leelee surfing with his instructor Jedi

Cute photo. Surfing was HARD. I was tired. I am not a natural. ha! Dae was more tired than I was. He was much more natural looking than me. We all got up, though.
