Target Bathrooms

Baby is really into looking into the toilet when Leelee is doing his thing. This was taken at the Target bathroom when Leelee just could not wait. The whole thing just grosses me out, public bathroom being highest on the list.

We went to the Pasco Country Mercantile pumpkin patch tonight. It was the hospital's night out and they had rides and pumpkins. The kids had a lot of fun!

Leelee was scared stiff on the small roller coaster but loved this 'free fall'. Go figure.
Waiting patiently for the choo choo train.

Leelee loves writing now. He wrote all these little notes out yesterday during Baby's nap.

"Olin Letter"
"Christian Roller Coaster"

"Water Tank" (this one was a stretch, and I wrote Christian)

(Really) Little Things

1) We went to the Verizon store today and the following happened: we picked up two Samsung Galaxy 4s's, activated service for 2 years, tried out the phones for a couple of hours, went over to our new house to check the reception on Verizon versus AT&T phones, determined that a) we like iPhones a lot more than we thought and b) reception is no different between the two carriers, at least in North Richland. So the new phones are getting packed up and going back to the Verizon store tomorrow. The small things I found to be a nuisance with the Samsung, such as no straight-to-camera from lock screen, the auto correct spelling was more cumbersome, the apps were helter-skelter, the interface was not immediately intuitive, we didn't want to have to convert all our music, apps, photos, contacts, movies....

So they were fun while they lasted (24 hours). I told Dae we are totally those old people who are completely resistant to change. iPhone has gotten its claws on us and we can't seem to scratch our way out!

2) Our cousin Jocelyn works for J. Crew and sends the cutest stuff Ev's and my way. This little bone shirt, for instance. *Ignore Olin's attitude face!

3) Leelee's artwork. It is a compass and a note :)

4) My artwork, courtesy of Sally Hansen gel strips. This is about as exciting as it gets over here on any given night!

5) Dae came up to me a couple of days ago and asked if he could borrow my "Evolution of Smooth" lip gloss. I was like, what are you talking about. He had seen commercials for EOS and wanted to try it out, so I bought him his own little egg for $2.97.

6) Hiking Badger Mt. with girls from work. We have been meeting a lot more outside of work which I find a lot of fun.

Rice & Noodles

Hallelujah...we have found an acceptable (more than acceptable even) Korean restaurant in the Tri-Cities! I even posted a Yelp post about it today to hopefully keep it in business.

It's called Rice & Noodles, is located in a random Hispanic complex in Pasco, unfortunately, and it is seriously delicious. Yahoo!

These boys are so excited.
Can't get in there fast enough.
Babe's new puffy coat from Nordstrom Rack. He hates the zipper on his neck. Too bad, because I think this coat is cute.
Christian, dressed in Olin's 2T pants courtesy of Dae. And that's why I am responsible for the attire of our children.

Bawa

Olin calls Dae "Bawa" instead of Baba. We laugh about it :)

We made a 24 hour trip to Bellevue and Seattle yesterday and did our usual whirlwind shopping. I tell Ev we are definitely Hill-billies who come into the big city to get their fix of food and groceries!

The Seattle line-up:

1) HMart: Bulgogi, Woori Kimchi (small jars only), seaweed, sides, breads, black sesame soymilk that I am excited to try, shrimp-flavored chips that Dae and I both ate as a kid, and other items.

2) Husky Bookstore: We skipped it this trip :( Upset about the loss.

3) Nordstrom Rack: We hit this two times this trip. Dae got some ties and shirts, I got 3 items of clothing, and we got shoes for Leelee and a few shirts for the kids.

4) Sushi: This time we tried Genki Sushi in Factoria. Conveyor belt sushi is a must!

5) Korean food for dinner: A place in Federal way in the E-mart grocery store specializes in the soondubu tofu soup. It was SO good. One of my favorite parts is at the end of the meal when they add hot tea to the rice clay pot in order to get the last bits of charred rice unstuck from the edges.

6) Cafe Flora breakfast: The last time I went to this breakfast place was in college or dental school so I was really excited to visit again. Dae made sure to ask for the non-vegan option on every dish.

7) Trader Joe's: I love the unsweetened dried mangoes, freeze dried mangoes, mixed nut packs for baby, and hummus.

Some photos from last week:

1) JoJo filled in this sheet for school. Under Loving she put "Mlone" and under Forgiving she put "Ilin" (Melanie & Olin). Very cute.

2) Kids in the car. Baby refused to sleep the entire way up to Seattle yesterday. They finally fell asleep at 4:30 on the way to dinner.

3) Baby loves to push his lips out when he's concentrating.

Super Helper

Christian keeps coming on strong with the spelling, and the new words, and the new math.

He had fun finding sticker letters and putting them on Dae to spell out stuff. This was his spelling of "Super Helper"

The past couple of mornings he has explained to us that he was "frustrated" at various things. So funny.

And Dae has been practicing subtraction with him - placing a couple cars in front of him and taking one away and trying to get him to understand the concept of subtraction.  I think he's getting it!

Pumpkin Patches

We've just completed 2 pumpkin patch trips in 2 days. Whew!

First one: Sagebrush Montessori pumpkin patch at Country Mercantile in Pasco, yesterday.

Second one: Bill's Berry Farm in Grandview, Washington this morning. Ev and Didi are in town and we've got a packed schedule today including the Patch, a lobster BBQ (yummy) and dinner and sleepover with Kelly.

We made apple cider at the Farm today and it was a lot of fun. The boys really enjoyed participating in the process: 1) Weighing and selecting 40 pounds total of 3 types of apples 2) Washing the apples 3) Running the apples through the grinder to get apple 'mulch' 4) Straining the apple mulch into little bags 5) pressing down on all the bags to grind out the apple cider.

Very proud of our 3 1/2 gallons of finished product.

Big Happenings

This week has been filled with big happenings: 1) We closed on our new house! 2) Dae had ACL knee surgery on Wednesday and 3) I had my elbow pins removed on Monday. Not surprisingly, my little elbow fiasco has taken lowest spot on the totem pole of importance. :) Dae's laid-up but his knee doesn't hurt, which is weird. He keeps expecting it to hurt, and so do I, so I think we're both just waiting for the storm to hit.

Warning: Gross photo of elbow below...

The incision is nothing compared to the original surgery.
