Saving Money, One Bad Haircut at a Time

I can certainly spend my fair share of money, but I am thrifty when it comes to weird things like clothes (Target) and general maintenance, specifically my and my kids' haircuts. I bought clippers two years ago (the math: $20 per kids' haircut x 12 months = $240 per kid per year savings in haircuts) and have done an OK job so far without any major mishaps.

Enter Dae, and today's haircut for Christian. I don't know what he was thinking, and neither does he, but he decided to go ahead and clip the side of Leelee's hair on the lowest setting which equals 3mm. Maybe he read 3 centimeters, but it clipped it SHORT. At the first cut, we both said "oh no!" and panicked. Fortune was not on our side, as this is the haircut that will be on display for Leelee's school photos on Wednesday of this week! I guess we can just say we were going for the edgy look. Maybe I will dress him in skinny jeans this week to complete the look. haha! (Something else hilarious: After the bad cut, Dae asked if there was some sort of black spray to put on it and even asked "Can you just put some mascara on it or something for school?". Can you imagine mascara running down the side of leelee's head when he's outside during recess and starts to sweat? Great laughs were had!)

Garbage bag over him and the chair. He was like a little floating head, with a bad haircut.

We also went to Portland this past weekend for the first time since the move. I had a dental conference on Saturday and a mom's potluck and baby shower on Sunday. It was nice to see cousins Mal and Didi, Aunty Ev and Uncle Jeff and head back to the rainy side for a couple days!

Oktoberfest at Mal's school. The cotton candy was a huge hit and the kids were running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

My new billboard at work. I officially work again!

  1. Ouch! Fortunately Leelee's hair will grow back and the bare spots will be gone in no time!

By the way, I love your photo on the work billboard!

  2. Hilarious with Christian's haircut! Love Dae's comment about coloring in the bare area with mascara! Too funny. I have my mom help me cut Nicholas' hair for now. Oh, and love your work photo, you look gorgeous!
