Play-Doh hat

These photos were taken at our mom's potluck on Saturday by Amanda. She caught him trying to put the Play-Doh tin over his head.

He just *might* know a letter and a color or two. At Ev's beach house over the weekend he picked up a green foam square and said "Green" in Chinese. He then pointed to the dog's blue bowl and said "Blue" in Chinese. He then proceeded to get a few colors wrong. haha! When we got home yesterday he picked up a J magnet and said "J" and this morning picked up a block with Y and Z on it and said "Y...Z". I think some of it is knowledge and some of it is luck, especially with the colors. He likes to say most things are green.

I've been on a car researching frenzy. Our current crossover SUV isn't really doing it for me anymore. Poor gas mileage, light leather interior seating which Leelee is wreaking havoc on, and no utility (little trunk space and no third row so we will be forced to take two cars when the new baby arrives and anyone visits). I'm liking the Rav-4 with 3rd row option. Surprisingly, Dae doesn't care since I'll be the one driving it anyway. Fantastic! I'll keep you posted...

North Carolina and Smoothie Messes and Mitts

I just got back from North Carolina today for my friend Sylvia's baby shower. She's due in a month and I am quite convinced our stomachs are about the same size! This is the only pic I took of the two of us with my iPhone..it was at Lake Johnson where we did a 3 mile loop in the 85 degree weather - luckily it was morning and shady! I liked North Carolina a lot - green, clean, and sunny.

Christian likes to use socks as mitts. A couple weeks ago I fell asleep with him for a nap and I woke up and saw him sleeping with one of his socks on his hand. These two photos were taken by Ev at her house yesterday where he found himself a random sock on the floor and proceeded to run a cash register with his cashier's glove as well as operate some scissors...

Lastly, I am still totally into my Vitamix (and have limited myself to only talking about it one time per day at work). Christian likes it a lot, too. Sometimes he gets a little too excited. See below. I was not happy about cleaning up that mess!

Winking

In one of the Thomas the Train books the train winks. We've been practicing winking, and this is his version...

When all else fails, let's see if pulling my eye open will work.

Snorer

I think I have become a snorer. I actually caught myself a couple of times beginning to snore at night and I would startle a little bit awake. I blame weight gain, which I feel is going at a much faster rate than last time around. Anyway, the funny thing is, I have noticed (in the times I am actually awake when Dae gets home) that his snoring has subsided! He used to be the major snorer among the two of us which of course annoyed me, and here I am snoring up a storm while his is diminishing. Meanwhile, I also think for every pound I am gaining he is losing a pound...those 16 hour days have reduced him to some measly meal options. His 'slim fit' jeans are even getting a little bit of wiggle room!

Anyway, some of the girls at work posted a Pick a Name sheet on the lounge fridge which I thought was cute. I think I like Bruce Lee the best :)

My New White iPhone

Yesterday, Mother's Day, I woke up around 6:45am to the smell of breakfast cooking. This was a first in my memory, which is long and quite accurate! Dae had cooked up some berry pancakes, egg (whites, my fave) and turkey bacon. I later told him that I had started to think he was hopeless in the kitchen and house in general and he said he feigns hopeless well. I said yes, very well. Ha!

Anyway, so Leelee ran into the room where I was in bed and the first thing he said was, in English, "are you ok?". I totally started laughing. He has never asked me that before. Then he said in Chinese "almost time to eat!". I laugh out loud all the time at the things he is saying.

So in very exciting news, I got a new white iPhone. It required a big-time operation to get my hands on this little gem! The quest started innocently enough when I went online to see (just to see) how much a white iPhone would cost. Well, of course I can't rely 100% on an online quote so naturally I had to call AT&T to confirm. The salesperson was really friendly and quoted me a really reasonable price for some reason, even though I wasn't due for an upgrade. So I put my hand over the phone and asked Dae "Should I order it? Am I crazy?" and I hear the salesperson laughing. Meanwhile, Dae didn't even blink an eye and said "order it, or else you're going to talk about it and drive me crazy until you do". So of course I ordered it, waited impatiently for it to arrive while checking the USPS online tracking about 15 times per day, and felt like it was Christmas all over again when my little package arrived on Saturday. Yahoo! Then began my clean-up efforts for my 'old' iPhone 4 to post it on Craigslist. Little did I know those things go like hotcakes, so within an hour of posting I had 10 offers that Dae and I waded through. We picked out a seemingly trustworthy fellow and Dae met with him at Barnes and Noble in Lloyd Center while Leelee and I played at the first level kids' play area. It all went off without a hitch, but Dae said since he took all the risk he rightfully deserved a service charge. Ha!

Anyway, I love my new white iPhone. I guess I'm a sucker for white Apple items...

Salon Lee

My new yearly project, until his hand outgrows the canvas

This morning I felt inspired to finally check off two major things I had been procrastinating: 1) haircut for leelee and 2) 2-year handprint on canvas. I finally completed a sort of successful haircut. It took one Thomas the Train episode and 3 gummy vitamins (thanks for the inspiration Dawn!). I am so happy he doesn't have stick-straight hair a la Dae. It leaves plenty of wiggle room for error, which I desperately need.

Last night we went to the Timbers' game (we won!) with Ev and Jeff. It was really fun. And packed! I was actually pretty surprised, but this is coming from the person who didn't know the Timbers were even Major League Soccer.

Dae has the weekend off so I think we are going to use our special passes to Adidas and Nike and see if we can score some goods. I already picked up a pair of mini Samba's for Leelee. Dae got pretty excited when I opened the box and showed him...Leelee not so much. In the shoe department so far, he has shown no interest in any shoe except for his rainboots which he nearly always puts on with the wrong foot on.

Vocab-wise, Leelee loves saying the full ABC's now, but in the end he says "Now my know my ABC's"...we always chuckle. He says the funniest things to me. I guess he's at that age where he's always rambling about who knows what, especially in the car. Last week on the way to daycare he says, out of nowhere, "go home...hugs". I guess that was my hint that he was not looking forward to daycare? And he now always says "mama driving the car, can't hug right now" all in Chinese.

Off to the gym...then on to shopping!

License, Cousin, Mime!

Christian passed his driver’s test! Didi and Ev visited for 3 nights and happened to be here while Christian took his test, which was super ...
