Me, Phil, Dae, Leelee at Namdaemun Market in Seoul (June 2010)

Here the Amazing Race workers are preparing for the challenge (none of the teams chose this one, unfortunately - good thing we didn't stay around and wait!)
So here are my observations after our encounter with the Amazing Race folk:
1) They were super nice. They allowed us to take a photo with Phil even though this was 6 months before the episode was going to air, and we potentially would have known which teams made it to the final episode. They asked us not to post the photo until the episode aired and to not tell anyone where they were.
2) Phil was better looking in real life than on TV. hehe
So back to our real life weekend. This is the first weekend in what has to be months that Dae was not on call or one of us was out of town. We did all things Christmas this weekend. We went to the Christmas tree farm and cut down our tree. We stood in line at Washington Square mall for 1 1/2 hours in order to get a picture of Christian with Santa, and decided that neither of us is really into an annual picture with Santa, therefore 2010 may be the last year of picture with Santa. Actually, the only reason I had a real interest in getting one is because I had purchased a Groupon and wanted to get my money's worth (and that's how they get you!)
Leelee trying to squat to copy me. See our Husky gear!

Nice last picture...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, it was me who spotted Phil at Namdaemun market. He looked familiar but I couldn't remember who he was until I asked Mel. I am so bad with names and faces...
Wow, talk about timing... we had Amazing Race on (not really watching)and then your photo with Phil in Korea arrived!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so when are you guys going to sign up?
ReplyDeleteI gotta get Dae whipped into shape before we even think about submitting a video! Do you see how much running they do on that show? Dae might die.
ReplyDeleteOooh, finally...I've been anxiously waiting for this! Love it! And I totally agree, the Santa pictures are so overrated...but good use of your Groupon. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures and comments, as always Mel! I've checked in now and then - but bad me, I've not commented in quite some time!!!
ReplyDeleteMust comment now on tricks of photos with Santa. At the malls - just go at an off-time for a quick visit...don't purchase the pictures (at least here, it's quite a rip-off!). We then always make sure we get our Christmas tree at a farm and on the day/weekend that Santa will be there...no lines and no fee's for pictures. In fact - even better conversations with the kiddos!
Love to you all!!
Thanks for the tips, Ker. If we muster up the determination to see Santa in 2011 I will take your wise words into consideration! haha!
