Pre-Birthday Birthday and Special Guests

Tons of fun having Ev and Mal decide last minute on Friday to come Friday! They picked up the kids from school and while Christian had a warning (I texted him) I guess Olin was shocked when Auntie Ev came and Mal got out of the car at Sagebrush pick-up!

Where that Adidas sponsorship...?

"Reconnecting..."

Pearl Tea in the mall

Paintball! Tons of fun.

Fujiyama for a lovely 4:30pm dinner on Friday night. Mal's first time at teppanyaki!

Rip Jimmy...End of an Aquatic Era

The last of our aquatic specimens passed on yesterday, dubbed Jimmy by the kids. The fish store owner had said our fish would live 2-3 years and Jimmy lasted almost 3 years. Old guy!

Took a soccer ball to the upper lip and I got a call from teacher Tessa, so he came home for the rest of the afternoon. He managed to make a miraculous recovery for a playdate with Claira and soccer practice with 3 Rivers.

March Happenings

Faces at the space needle

Second middle school dance. The first one was such a success they had high hopes. They both said the first dance was more fun but I think they had a decent time.

Practical over pretty, for sure

Novel boba tea, by Howard Amon park, is pretty good

Blizzards at carpool

Suzzallo!

Cherry blossoms!

Ski Day

Enjoying one of our last days on the slopes this season at White Pass with Amy and Ursula.

Olin had an extra day off school for conferences so he and I went on a 1.75 mile run and then stretched and relaxed on the grass. I took this photo when we were laughing that his braces match the blanket. Spring is coming!

Steinway

New liquid nitrogen ice cream place in Kennewick.

Our new (old) Steinway upright!  Model 1098. She's a beaut!

Many good years with our trusty Yamaha and it is now going back to Puops house in Bellevue

#4 rotated about 100 degrees on Christian. He'll see ortho again in a couple months

Puops took this picture of them mid-pogo

Forgot to post this photo of them at their school awards ceremony. They handed out awards for Science Fair (Christian made it to the second round, which 24 out of 82 kids did) and Pastor's Award for above a 3.8 and no grades less than A- over the semester. I thought he looked particularly cute in this tie. It's Babz' tie.

LA with Dae

It all started with a possible vascular convention in Miami that Dae was considering attending, and I join. That quickly translated in to no conference, just a weekend away, and we decided on LA!

Everything is more expensive in Beverly Hills...

I confirmed that Sprinkles is hands down my favorite all time red velvet

I just last week finished reading Shoe Dog to the kids (Phil Knight) and they mention Onitsuka Tiger all the time. That was the first shoe that Nike sold back when they were called Blue Ribbon. I didn't realize Onitsuka had their own store, and turns out they have had their own store since 2002. Somehow they are related to Asics too...

Korean Bingsu at Oakabing in Koreatown

Melemele coconut jelly dessert (with red bean) in the cutest mason jar that I carted home with me. Side note: Avis assigned us a Honda Civic. Dae asked if they had anything else and they said they have a Hyundai. We didn't know what kind of Hyundai so we walk up to our car and it's the tiniest hatchback ever.....the entire weekend we were laughing that "we could have had a Honda Civic!" Our tiny Hyundai Kona in the background of this pic. Other side note: the entire weekend we were very proud of ourselves and our thriftiness, at least in parking. We declined our hotel's $60/night valet parking and Dae found a lot 1 block away for a grand total of $45 for the entire weekend. We seriously talked about our savings like 8 times.

LAFC vs. Portland Timbers! What a coincidence. We got same-day tickets.

Outside Crossroads vegan restaurant (where Dad, Joanne, Ev and I dined 8 years ago). Dae couldn't believe it was vegan, it was so good and meat-like.

Parks BBQ in Koreatown. Best panchan/banchan ever! So fresh.

Dad & Joanne drove 1.75 hours to meet us at Rosaliné Peruvian restaurant on Melrose. Was great!

At the soccer game. Once again my earplugs came in handy. Dae yelling so loud.

I think this is the first time ever finishing the NYT crossword. Monday, naturally. haha

Camp & Crutches

One boy went to camp Lutherhaven for the week (4 nights) and the other went to a track meet Wednesday, suffered an avulsion fracture, and is...
