Las Vegas with Megan

This sums up one of the highlights of Vegas. haha. Basically the ability to eat candy, nap, stroll around, lay around, read, swim, eat whenever we wanted was a nice luxury.

I did win $26 at Blackjack and immediately cashed out before I started losing :) I was actually nervous to play BlackJack without Dae there to tell me when to hit and when to stay, but the people at my table were nice and seemed equally inexperienced, and the dealer was also a talkative and pleasant lady who gave us tips when we weren't sure.

Olin whispering to me "I don't like it when Halmoni feeds me".......
BBQ in Wenatchee after a soccer win! Last game of the season! Indoor soccer starts up in two weeks and I am happy to report that Olin is looking forward to it. I think it will be fun. Fast paced, indoor, no practices...

Damage Mitigation

Our dishwasher leaked last week, just badly enough that the flooring got wet and Zion (the damage mitigators) had to remove our countertop and cabinets to get to it.

So for the next month we're washing our dishes in the small pantry sink. In other words, they have never been dirtier! hahaha.

Just in time for Halmoni and Haraboji's arrival last Tuesday...

Major bad memories from the LOUD fans in the Seattle condo last year.

Gone

Current sitch. New drying rack, $7.99 at Fred Meyer, is very useful.

Chess 2019-2020

Chess Saturdays commence! Fortuitously (new vocab word), chess starts right about when soccer ends so we won't have to pick between the two too much.

Boys did great. Christian won 2nd place among 5th graders and beat two guys who were ranked a couple of hundred points above him. "Both Asian guys", as he observed to me later. Olin won 1st place in 2nd grade.

Hopefully people don't think I intentionally dress the kids like twins. Also, I finally convinced Christian to let me cut his hair. He was flipping his head and moving his hair back every 5 minutes and it was driving me crazy.

Sidenote: The guy in the back with the beard, Earl, is a dad at the school. His wife is really bubbly but he's really quiet so up until now we had no idea of all his talents, but he 1) is the coach of our chess club and is a good chess player and 2) is also a deejay and brought his entire set-up to Jogathon and we rocked out. haha. Not sure what his day job is, but he's a man of many talents. We call him the International Man of Mystery. :)

Mid-October fun

Fun 2-nighter in Portland since none of the kids had school on Friday (teacher in service). We used up Mal's fun center gift cards that she won last year, we went to Pip's and the new croissant shop, Twisted. We hung out, went to Trader Joe's, had a great time!

Sushi lunch

Jogathan 2019. Christian ran 31 laps, Olin ran 29

Pumpkin Patch. I like this photo.

I was going back and forth between the two boys' classes so I wasn't able to get shots of Christian picking out his pumpkin :(

Autumnal Miscellanea

Cutie in Seattle
#10 at last peeking through. This was the tooth that first brought me in to ortho - it was tucked up under the gums and seemingly squished next to #11 (canine)
Olin - at last a central incisor poking through. #8. Interestingly, this was the baby tooth that was most recently lost, not the one that has been gone since he was 2. We were taught in school that any tooth that is prematurely lost greater than 2 years of when it would normally come through will delay the permanent tooth coming through, and if it's lost within 2 years of the permanent coming through it will expedite the permanent coming through. So he proves that theory true!
Classmates' one-word descriptives for Christian. I thought this was really revealing and accurate. Math, athletic, solving problems, fast, responsible, building, origami (so funny, of all the words out there, that one kid used that as their descriptive word for him!)....
Olin was taking forever to come out to the car one morning and Christian went in to check and revealed that Olin had spilled smoothie "Everywhere". When I got home later that day and surveyed the (cleaned-up) damage, I spotted a few specks they most certainly missed. By this point it was caked on and oh-so-fun to remove....
Nappin on the return trip from Seattle
Protection from hot oil
Spelling practice, waiting for Christian to finish piano lesson for his turn

Autumn Happenings

Birthday group celebrating Claira's 9th birthday at Fujiyama and Matilda the play at Richland High School

Exploding Kittens with an extended pack. The cone of shame is hilarious!

Bread #32 - Brown Soda Bread. It was quick to make and fairly tasty - very dense.

Olin's library field trip. He told me he wants to learn lots of languages. I find it funny he picked the one Asian language that nobody in our home speaks.

Jogathon procurement sheet. I guess one child is very casual with names...

....while the other is very formal

Well child visit. His BP was a little low (80/64) so they did a longer blood pressure check and told him to make sure he was WELL hydrated. ...
