When The Cat's Away...

...the mice will go to the RV sale at the mall, and spend the day with Kelly and kids. hehehe. Dae is on a golfing trip in Denver.

I have loved RV's, or at least the idea of RV's, my entire life. The interest has reached a frenzy this past month. I think it started when I got it into my head for my 40th birthday (in 2 years) I want to rent an RV and take a trip to Yellowstone. Since then, I have:

  1. Taken the kids to the RV dealership as an 'activity' last week. We learned more than I ever knew about RV's. There are actually Class C motorhomes which look like a truck with the little canopy over the driver area. There are the Class A humongous ones that are like tour buses. There are travel trailers, and there are 5th wheels which go over the beds of trucks. There are also Class B's which are kind of like a very very large van. Never knew the difference between any of them. My dream is a nice little Class C motorhome.
  2. Roped Kelly and our 4 total kids to go to the Russ Dean RV show at the mall yesterday, with 25 mph gusting winds and major allergies flaring up. It was so much fun. The 5th wheels are definitely the nicest, but those would also require a purchase of a truck.

Lovely wrapped early bday present from Kel. Filled with goodies!!!
Had a tantrum. Had to walk by himself all the way over to the fence from those white goal posts.

Buses & Boats

We rode the bus to pick up the Volvo on Wednesday. The kids of course were very excited to ride the bus, which is funny because I am sure in 10 years they will do anything to avoid taking the bus!

We had to make one transfer, and walk a total of .75 miles.

And I think the kids are done with the bus adventure for a while

Tonight we went boating with the the Kincaids on the Columbia. It was a good night for it - overcast and about 85-90 degrees. We packed lots of snacks for the kids so they were satiated. :)

Olin went in for a swim in the river. It was not warm!
Christian on the tube with Henry and AJ. He loved it, kept asking to go faster.
Funny photo. Olin and AJ.

First time on the inter tube. They were too scared the last time we were on a boat so I was happy they got out there. Olin was focused on holding on the entire time, so he barely looked up and then wanted to stop. Leelee wanted to keep going and going.

Olin Riding a Bike!

First time on a pedal bike! Managed to eek it out just before his 4th bday....

And the Killer Bush on our front pathway, resting place of many a mad hornet, struck AGAIN. Olin got stung today by the same group that stung Leelee last week. Dae immediately hightailed it to Ace Hardware and came back with enough wasp killer to take care of the entire neighborhood.

The Ways We Sleep

Exhibit 1: Last night 10pm

I think this is the first time I've caught Olin asleep on his feet. I know I have caught Leelee before

Exhibit 2: This morning, 4am

Olin likes to sleep at the end of the bed.

The cuteness! Two weeks ago in Portland.
2 nights ago. Leelee's first bee sting on third toe. I couldn't really see it. His feet have been dirty and stinky all summer. Ditto for Olin!
Olin wanted me to see his fingers trick and I happily obliged. I am a sucker for little, chubby hands!

Funny and Smart

A collection of funny and smart happenings:

  1. Olin is totally unaware of the first syllable in Vacation Bible School. So, he loved "''Cation bible school"
  2. In the car yesterday Olin said "Baba speaks K'rean. We speak Kornese. In Kornese, we say 'hello'". Then Leelee chimes in: "No, that's English. We are Korean and Chinese, that equals Kornese"
  3. I told the kids they could have the iPad at noon. Leelee looked at his watch and said it was 11:18am. About 15 seconds later, he said "That's 42 minutes away". I asked him how he did the math, and he explained something about "10 + 10 + 10 + 10, and then you add 2"
  4. We just got the game Trouble. Kids were really looking forward to playing it. Before we actually played, Olin was asking when we were going to play "Angry"! hahaha. I guess Trouble and Angry are totally interchangeable in his fledgling vocabulary.

Dae's Day

Happy 39th Birth-Dae! We love you! We are glad we got to spend the sunny "dae" in Seattle today.

This "W" at the entrance to UW. A new addition since I graduated.

We love Pike Place Market. Can you tell?

Hot August

After the pool, Adrienne and Olin took a shower together and then eventually emerged, both dressed in Adrienne's clothes. Adrienne even loaned Olin a pair of her undies.
Both kids still LOVE getting their ears cleaned. Even when it hurts!

There is a BMX racing track close to our house. A friend just told me about it and the kids have requested we go two days in a row, in 100+ temperatures. I am so crabby and hot afterward!

Very hot after biking

Ev Turns 40!!!

We just got back from a packed weekend of fun and festivities for Ev's 40th in Portland! There's nothing quite like spending a long weekend with family (that you enjoy - haha), and it was really nice that my mom was able to come down and Dae was able to come on Saturday to join in the celebration.

First: Leelee watched some American Ninja Warrior (ANW) and proceeded to whip up this little drawing... He said that "it's the same person, just doing the different obstacles"

Second: Pelican Bay is a lot of fun in the summer with friends...They like to caravan their inner tubes.

Thirdly: Olin blew out of his undies during miniature golf with baba, so Dae dropped him off at home to get rinsed off while they picked up ice cream.

And now - all the 40th action! There is a lot of it...

Thursday ladies' dinner at Nostrana in SE Pdx. My mom's riesling was not at all sweet, but as usual she did not complain or even mention it. Dinner was very yummy.

My mom and I took the kids to Friday night dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory while Jeff and Ev date-nighted. Olin was pretending to be asleep.

Saturday, Birthday day, starts off with a walk to St. Simon coffee down the road. Our first test of the photo-booth props turns out well.

City Target: Because puops is in dire need of shorts after this year's sizzling summer in Seattle. Unsuccessful. However, I make out with a pair of long shorts that are not flattering but I don't care. hehe.

Outside Palace Cakes in Portland

Louis!!! At what time in life does a girl deserve an LV? I'd say when she turns 40! (If not earlier. haha)
High Tea at the Heathman Hotel. Yum, and lots of fun. There were indeed crustless sandwiches and scones. Deviled eggs were absolutely delicious. There were tons of desserts. We ended up boxing 2/3 of the dessert to take home.

We squeezed in 6-wide onto this lovely couch. Puo Puo is holding the camera on the couch.

Corner table, open air, at Ken's Artisan Pizza. Delicious, and such a lovely environment!

Mal & Didi have some great faces

So does Olin

Hanging with my shirtless baby

Mal got a new VivoFit Garmin band for working out 3x/week for 9 weeks. Go Mal!

Olin lended a hand, because he loves 'moos-taches'

Bians know how to smile. Lees are working on it.

Pow!

Very serious.

Looks like an Indian burn to me. I hope not.

Outside Ken's with Jeff's cousin Stuart who lives down the street from the restaurant.

Let them eat cake!!!
Happy 40th Piggy!!!!! So happy to have celebrated with you!

Camp & Crutches

One boy went to camp Lutherhaven for the week (4 nights) and the other went to a track meet Wednesday, suffered an avulsion fracture, and is...
