Happy 6th Birthday Christian!

Happy (belated post) 6th Birthday Christian!!! We got to celebrate with cousins Mal and Didi at the beach and in Portland. I think (and hope) you had a wonderful birthday. It started off with chocolate chip pancakes and your presents: a Timex wristwatch and a book about BlackBird SR-71's, aka the fastest planes on earth. We then drove to Portland, picked up your BR cake and indulged in food carts and ice cream. Then we drove to the beach and you got your birthday present and balloons from your cousins (laser board game) and we had cake, walked to the beach, went to the surf shop, and got to watch Care Bears movie. haha.

We love you very, very, very much!!! You are kind, smart, love to laugh, love to make people happy, willing to help, think about others, and so observant.

Scoops from Scoop

This cake, packed in dry ice, had to de-thaw for about an hour. No joke.

Kids asked for this pedal-bike in Seaside so Ev and I obliged. They got their first steering lessons!

Lots o' fun...

Impressive shelter the kids came across at the Gearhart beach.

Making fruit kebabs for Leelee school birthday celebration

Lounging in the morning. Boys love the heated bathroom floors in the master.

More bathroom floor. Take note of the green wife beater on Olin...

PS: Olin wore a green wife beater (his night shirt) to school today. I found this out when I got home from work.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

We had to get some old pictures for Leelee's 6th bday celebration at school next week, so we sifted through our old boxes and I came across a lot of oldies and goodies. Some are pre-kids, and others are just funny and cute.

Leelee at one? Dawn photo...(our favorites). Look at that side hair part. I still remember that onesie. I thought the colors and stripes were so flattering. hehe.

Seoul photo booth with Leelee at 1 1/2.

Sung and Linda and Joshua probably 8 years ago. On our dining room table during dinner...

My mom is in her late 60's. So pretty!

Uhhhh, this would be PDX Brewfest, pre-kids (clearly). Summer 2007.

Mal and her identical-twin cabbage patch doll. 2007?

Pregnant with Leelee (8 months) and at Kaiser Prom - 2008. Safe to say both of us had gained a few....hahaha!

Can you believe this guy's pose at 2 1/2 years old? A pro! These were Kindercare's professional photos. Probably some of the cutest photos we have.
2007. Pre-kids... hair blacker, wrinkles fewer.

Levi's

There's something amiss with this photo, and it's not their facial expressions...(hint: Olin put on his own pants after a bathroom trip)

This photo is not exciting, but I had to document the FIRST TIME ever that the kids sat through an entire movie without being too scared. The movie was "Alexander & the no good, very bad....day". It was cute.

(Non) Masters Swimming

Dae and I started swimming lessons and our first lesson was today. Just wanted to document so I didn't forget. We actually can swim, but our form and our breathing are just terrible. We learned so much today in 30 minutes! (breathe out through nose, in through mouth but like a straw...move your body from side to side to slice through water rather than just head on...)

We both had a great time, and we were both exhausted. Pretty embarrassing...

Hood River Girls' Weekend

It was a grey and drizzly weekend in Hood River but we made up for it by eating a lot of snacks and laughing a lot (I seriously cannot remember the last time I laughed until tears so many times). This year we added on 3 girls to our weekend to make it a grand total of 7. It was fun times!

Lenny taught yoga. It was a perfect combo of difficulty and stretch.
Then we proceeded straight to a stairs hike. My legs were like lead.
Dinner at Celilo. I think we only consumed < 1 glass of wine per person the entire weekend. That's amazing to me. (ha!) The candy and croissants, on the other hand...

In front of our VRBO with Minah, Jennifer, and my new boots. hehe. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned.

Challenges

I am convinced that Olin is on his way to being excused from Sagebrush Montessori. I actually harbor some fear about it. The guy had his share of peeing in his pants during school, but that was small beans compared to the tantrums he is now throwing at school.

Last week: 1 tantrum with Jill, 1 tantrum with teacher Heidi (that we know about. This was reported by leelee and nanny on the days I worked)

Today: 1 tantrum on drop-off. He refused to go into class, refused to shake teacher Heidi's hand. I took him outside, and then tried going in again. He again refused, and Heidi took him inside and closed the door, where I heard him scream for a few minutes. I am sure the entire school heard him scream, literally. It is a two-room school and I heard him when I went over to read in Leelee's class.

His new thing: He refuses to acknowledge that he did any of it. See video below, titled "It wasn't me".

Currently, I view Leelee as basically a saint. I have to remind both Dae and myself that we also had lots of 3 year old moments with Leelee when he was that age, and we still do. Actually, the blog has been very helpful in reminding me that there are lots of phases, and that we always tend to feel like the kids are being so naughty.

Sunday Night

Tonight was a nice night:

1) Everybody actually ate the dinner I made, and ate well (quinoa, kale, fried egg). This is nothing short of a miracle. Olin kept requesting more parmesan cheese, Leelee requested more and more egg, Dae requested more of the entire plate, and nobody requested specifically more kale or tomato. haha. (I guess I know what I will be having for leftovers tomorrow come lunch.)

2) Dae took the kids miniature golfing while I took a nap (glorious). Then we played a few short minutes of soccer. Then we played a little more after dinner. The kids like to go double decker on baba.

3) Dae checked in on the kids after putting them to bed, and here is Olin sitting on his bed in the dark room wearing lab goggles.

Leelee Climbs Badger

Proud of Leelee - he climbed Badger Mountain yesterday! He went all the way up, all the way down with very little complaining. (It definitely helped that 7 year old Monique was there walking and running with him. The kids and I went with a whole bunch of work friends) Even Olin didn't complain too much strapped into the Beco. That guy had the best ride in town!

It was WINDY and cold. The kids did not complain much.

I got a last minute call asking if I could pick up Henry from school on Friday afternoon as well. I said sure, forgetting that the Mini was down two regular boosters. So the boys dealt very well with 1) no car seat and 2) a Britax baby car seat!

Soccer photos came in yesterday along with the last game of the season. Christian was awarded a medal and Olin a trophy. (I am thinking of taking away Olin's trophy, as the last 3/4 of the season he pretty much either sat on my lap or just refused to even entertain the thought of going out onto the 'field'.) Christian did well and he has been wanting to kick the ball around and practice in the backyard. In fact, Dae even taught him some fancy moves, so when I played with him the next day, Leelee tried so many tricks the ball pretty much didn't move. hahaha.

Camp & Crutches

One boy went to camp Lutherhaven for the week (4 nights) and the other went to a track meet Wednesday, suffered an avulsion fracture, and is...
