Chugging Along

1) Yesterday, we celebrated National Alpaca Farm Weekend at an alpaca farm in Kennewick. haha. They have two types of alpaca. One of the types has very 'woolly' wool. The other has shaggier hair. In this photo, the shaggy one is darker and near the front, and the woolly one is sniffing Olin's head.

The big guy on the far right, with brown facial spots, is a llama.

2) I've been treating myself to some fresh flowers, every week or so. (Somebody's got to buy them, and no one else in the family is rushing to buy me any! hahaha) I love fresh flowers, even when they're from Costco. This bunch here was $12 at the Richland Farmer's Market.

3) JoJo loves cooking. Together, Jo and Kelly made a mean Shepherd's Pie!

4) We went to Heritage Days at Sacajawea State Park on Saturday. We bumped into my assistant Mayra and her 7-year-old daughter, Monique (the boys had gone to the flea market a few months ago with Monique and love her!).

5) My friend Mary (endodontist from my Kaiser Vancouver days) and her husband Alan came down to visit this weekend. It was good timing as the Huskies were playing Stanford, and they are die-hard Stanford fans and alums. Unfortunately, we lost 20-13. But we had dinner at Bookwalter and had a really nice time with them. I think they know more about the history of Tri-Cities than we do! They also are very well versed on their local wineries. I think they've been to more of them than us.

Diluted Milk & Such

Today:

1) Leelee asked in the car "Mom, today can you not dilute our milk?" (I always add water)
2) Olin says "I want" for everything, even when he doesn't want it, because he somehow does not know how to say "Don't". So we have to repeat back to him "You don't want lunch?" and have him answer yes or no to confirm.
3) Olin loves cheese. He no longer loves nuts.
4) Olin loves playing hide and seek. He counts to 20 and then says, ready or not here I come!
5) Here are the kids miniature golfing on Monday. Looooved it. They placed their balls nice and close to the hole and then took to swinging.

6) Anybody need a custom Iphone 6 Plus? (True to size! Cutting by me, drawing by Leelee)

7) I was surprised when Leelee showed me he could tie his string. Teacher Karin taught him.

8) Kids have become super attached to me, and are having separation problems. When I leave for work, they cry a lot and chase me out into the garage telling me not to go.  It's horrible. They only want me to read to them at night, not even Dae. I am going to have to Supernanny up on this little dilemma as well.

Pendleton Round-Up 2014

Miscellaneous September 2014

Ev swam the 1.5 mile Columbia River race yesterday! She made it in 42 minutes - we were so impressed and proud of her!

More from Warrior Dash - victorious last leap over the fire

We went to a birthday party today with rides. When the rides were winding down, our boys were not quite done riding yet so Olin wandered off on his own and convinced the ride operator to let him on, by himself, for a little joyride.

Leelee also got on by himself

Warrior Dash Portland 2014

I'd like to say Warrior Dash was easy but it was no walk in the park! The 5K run was pretty hilly. There was, however, only one obstacle that was really challenging (the mud pit mounds that were so slippery everyone needed help getting over them) and the rest of the obstacles were more or less very doable.  Ev, her high school friend Aaron, and I had a great time. We drank beer, ran, drank beer and ate turkey legs, a cheeseburger, and pretzels.

This was supposedly some compost mud. It was smelly. But I appreciate the eco-friendliness

Darcey from high school!

Not 1, but 2 people approached Aaron and gave them their extra beer ticket. He must look like he needs (or appreciates) beer!
Massive mud slide

My mom took the following photo. We absolutely cannot get enough of Olin's lone central incisor. Just for kicks if you zoom up in on his face it's pretty hilarious. He was scoping out the foam design on my latte. Speaking of my mom, she watched the kids all day on Saturday while we beer gardened and Dashed! Thank you mom!

We went to Slappy Cakes for breakfast. DIY pancake cooking. This was outside the restaurant while waiting for a table. The lemon curd was to die for!

Happy 3rd Birthday Olin!

We love you! Here is a sampling of a few of the many things we find lovable, and hilarious about you:

How you love animals, and babies
You can't pronounce L's, or S's at the beginning of words (ye yow for yellow, mall for small)
How you pronounce everything very slowly and deliberately
The venus fly trap eyelashes
Your small dimple on left cheek
The small mole right above the back hairline
How you normally wake up in a good mood
Your love of acting shy
Love of kimchi and other adult food items
You love to say something is 'Cary' which means scary, even when you're not scared.
Love to buckle just the top buckle of the car seat and refuse to have help with it
Your love of bacon
Your love of beef
How you play guess the animal and then tell us the animal you're thinking about among your 'clues'
How you name all the vehicles in "my truck is stuck" book
Saying 'goodness no' in Pete the cat
Your inability to say sorry. Total stubbornness.
How you love to help mom cook, crack eggs, Vitamix, stir things

He got a nice variety of presents:

1) Grey truck from Gong Gong
2) Race car from Kelly
3) Books and college $ from puo puo
4) Shirt and candy from nanny
5) Ukelele from us
