Leelee and Olin were rummaging around in the garage and appeared in the house dressed like this. They announced they were going to go swimming...

This One's for You, Ev
Ev sent me this card (front and inside flap, below) for my birthday this year. We like to get a good crack up about these Awkward Family Photos...
Well, as Dae and I were leaving yesterday, we see a little floating head looking out the window. The first thing that came to my mind was that birthday card. I was laughing so hard.
Little guy looks so sad. He has been a wreck every time I leave the house these days! Ever since my 'full week of work' last week he's extra nervous whenever I leave.
Today I had nanny drive the kids to my office while I was working to 1) check and make sure Leelee does not have more cavities and 2) take an x-ray of Olin's central incisors that have been knocked around and subsequently darkened over the weeks. Kids did so awesome. In my experience it's often hard to get xrays on a 4-year old, and I'd say impossible on a 2-year old. Leelee was like an old pro - no problems whatsoever getting x-rays and a cleaning and exam. Olin, at 2 years old, did perfect. I was so proud!
By the way, from what I could tell, no new cavities on Leelee. Ugh - gives me anxiety thinking about him and those cavities!

Work
I went back to work this week to fill in for the dentist since he was out of town. I worked 3 1/2 days and I am tired :) I cannot even recall how I was able to work 5 day weeks at one point in my life. But it was really nice to come home every night and be so excited to see the kids (and them excited to see me). What a novelty! haha
Meanwhile, one of Dae's colleagues lost a brother and the other colleague lost a mother-in-law. Sad. So Dae will be stepping it up big-time over the next week or two to cover these two guys' patients and call schedules. I don't anticipate seeing hide nor hair of Dae for some time!
Here is smarty-pants Olin reading 3 out of the 5 letters on the Reach floss container:
Here is Leelee riding his bike around the driveway last week. I asked him if I could take a profile shot and he complied:

Odd Numbers
Sagebrush Montessori has a 'sharing sound' every week and this week was O like in Octopus. So Dae picked out "Odd numbers" for Leelee to bring in to share.
Leelee set about picking out which numbers were odd. He said he didn't know at first but then I prompted him by asking if 1 was odd or even. He said odd. I asked if 2 was odd or even and he said even. Then he said "Oh I know! Just skip one and it's odd!" So he concentrated very hard and counted out 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and wrote them down, most of them backwards, as well as the D's :)

The Disaster called our Home
I am definitely grateful for Dae's job and how hard he works. It gives us a lot of financial freedom and eliminates a lot of worry, and he likes his work.
However, sometimes his job really sucks (haha!). The past two weeks Leelee has been on winter vacation so it has been kids at home all day, every day and for the most part it has been me and the kids (I did work a couple of days, and Dae was home a couple of days as well). It's always a challenge to find stuff to do to occupy their time, besides the option of placing them in front of the TV to watch Caillou 50 times in a row (which is tempting, and if they didn't get antsy after about 4 episodes, I probably would!). Last weekend Dae got called in for most of the weekend, day and night. So it was me and the two little fellas and what felt like Groundhog's Day. Full days with no school, trying to come up with who knows what activity. Trying to feed the kids 3 solid meals without going the easy route of eating out, changing diapers, breaking up fights, cleaning up toy after toy, crying, tantruming, time-outs, dishes, cleaning up the floor after meals, brushing teeth, reading books, bedtimes, putting on outfits, socks, shoes, hats, jackets, doing laundry ad nauseum, wiping mouths, wiping bottoms, pouring milk into sippy cups 1000 times a day, grocery shopping, and trying to pack for our move. I am done.
At 9 am this morning, kids went to daycare for 5 hours and I felt no guilt. In fact, I was telling Dae that if it weren't for the gym I would probably have gone insane. The exercise, combined with up to 2 hours of childcare, were a lifesaver!
Following is a montage of snapshots of the house today. Kind of gross, and hard to believe this is what it looks like with a housecleaner who comes regularly!
That's it, folks! All our dirty laundry, aired. haha.

Doesn't look so bad, right? Well, it was breakfast. And the photo was taken at 1:30pm. |
The floor is always dirty with crumbs. It was way dirtier than this pic showcases. We need a dog! |
Dishes - the bane of my existence. |
Boxes are just starting to come into play. We are moving in 3 months but I want to go the slow-and-steady wins the race route. |

Baba Ate More
Leelee asked me how old I am today. I said 36. He asked if Baba was 37. I said yes. Then he said:
"And Baba is 37 because he ate more, right?"
(In Leelee's world, where the more you eat the older you get, I would be ancient!)

Olin can count now, so we alternate saying the numbers. He just can't seem to get 10 :)
