Would I?

1) Leelee doesn't say "Can I" or "May I"...he always says "Would I..."

Example: "Would I have some of that?"
                     "Would I have milk?"

2) Leelee pronounces another "a-nudder". I love it.

3) He asked me today "Mom, how come you have sprinkles on your nail?"

4) Olin likes to play Checkers the accordian at Music Class.

Permanent Marker

I've been so easily irritated around the kids lately and today's irritant was the permanent marker. Leelee knows which marker is permanent (I think) and still proceeded to use permanent marker on the new sweater I got for Olin as well as my computer. I was very annoyed...

In other news, his drawing is becoming quite lovely. Today he asked me to draw an arrow and then he drew in "Didi and our house and a door and a lock. Didi is coming over tomorrow" (he's not).

The latest

1) Olin screams before bed every night for 15-30 minutes. It sucks.
2) Olin can buckle the top part of his carseat and then he claps every time. Very cute :)

Instagramming Fool

I love modern technology and specifically Instagram. I re-discovered Instagram and I've been on a kick.

Mal's bday weekend in Portland

All the kids + Saige (Mal's new American Girl)

At "Kidz Dig Rigz" in Columbia Park on Saturday. My kids definitely dig rigs!

Kidz Dig Rigz was sponsored by Kadlec. Gotta represent Dae's company!

Morning mohawk and milk...

The next couple of photos are Leelee's latest artwork. They do a hodgepodge of artwork at school.

He colored in the Tortoise but the word tortoise was written by a kindergartner.
Danielle oversaw this art project. Leelee did the handprint and the signature but, as you can tell, the other penmanship was all Danielle.

Tuesday May 14

Today Leelee said two funny things:

1) "Mom, how come you draw clouds right here?" when he was holding onto the check for school. Umm....that would be my illegible signature...

2) This morning he found this ladybug sticker and said "This is the biggest ladybug I ever sawn!"

Olin's Moves

Olin's dancing is very cute. He hitches up his right leg a little and dances on the ball of his right foot, always. Never his left (he uses the left leg as his anchor leg - haha)

Also, he has been taking these enormous 3-hour naps. I am in heaven. I just wish I knew that I could count on a 3-hour nap every day, since they are somewhat sporadic.

Also, Dae and I are back to major sleep deprivation. We are dying. Leelee's on this new kick where he comes into bed with us around midnight and tosses and turns and whines and cries for what seems like hours. It is exhausting! Last night I crawled into our bed at 11:30. I can't remember what time Leelee came in, but he started up his whining and crying at 1am. I took him back into the other room and laid in bed with him until 4am where I drifted in and out of consciousness. Then I heard the little critter crying again around 5:30 and Dae got up to manage him. Somewhere in that mix, baby woke up and I went over there and laid with him for about a half hour. Yuck! There are few things I hate more than being tired!

Mother's Day 2013

Leelee told me the orange thing that looks like a bell is a kite :)

My Mother's Day consisted of:

1) Church
2) A nap
3) Brunch reservations at Bookwalter that were squashed when Olin decided to be a real crabby apple. We took him home for a nap and ate leftovers for lunch.
4) RV browsing at the mall (a dream)
5) Red Robin dinner (and 2 root beer floats for me)
6) Shopping trip to Winco
7) Eating popsicles while Dae sprayed Round-Up on our weed-riddled lawn
8) A new bag from Dae!
9) A very cute pillow that Leelee made me at Montessori School.

There were some highs and lows today :) Many more highs than lows, however.

We watched the movie The Impossible last night, about the Asian tsunami of 2004 and the true story about that family that was reunited against some really bad odds! It was really good.

Olin manning a squadron car yesterday at Kadlec Hospital's Safety Fair

It's been really hot so the kids have been sleeping in skimpy attire

We bid on and won this John Deere Bike last night at the auction.

No more bottles! Finally! It actually happened by accident: Nanny left our one and only bottle at her house and we were too lazy to pick it up so we used just sippy cups for all his liquids and he was fine, even with his early morning beverage.
These geese (?) were HUGE. Like 3 feet tall, even though they look small here. The kids and I were totally scared!  So we got up on that bench to feed them the bread. Leelee said the geese pecked his T-shirt - I didn't see it, but they were pretty aggressive and had no fear of humans.

This particular fella was all up in our business.

It's a Hot One

1. It's 84 degrees in our house right now and I kind of like it :). For some reason, sometimes I like to sweat it out. I am not sure why I feel that way, but Dae does not appreciate that craziness! So I'm sure when he gets home he'll blast on the A/C to a cool 75.  It's about 90 degrees outside which is unseasonably warm here in Richland, and I love it.

2. Another deep thought on money: I've been calling the doctor's office and surgery center to get a rough estimate of what we'll be in for once the bills start rolling in on my elbow, and got to thinking that something like this (an accident) could really push someone who is barely making it to financial despair. That made me a little sad, and it made me feel really, really fortunate.

3. Today in the car Leelee asked me:

"Mom, do you know what Art the Pelican is?"

"Nope"

"Art the Pelican is an island, and people live on it"

"Ohhh....archipelago?"

"No, Art the Pelican..... (Pause).....Actually, yes, archipelago"

I started laughing out loud. For a minute I thought he might be talking about some pelican they learned about in class!

4. I bought a couple of water hose attachment toys for the kids and set one up tonight at 7:30pm. They had a blast!

5. The past two weeks I've taken the kids out one night per week when Dae is not home to eat out and have frozen yogurt. I allow them about 1 ounce of yogurt and a topping :)

He's napping and that's all I care about!

I love this funny face.

I need some fresh air

Leelee loves saying "I need some fresh air". He will say it in the car when he wants to roll the window down. He will say it at home when he wants us to open the door or window. He will say it when he's lying in bed under blankets and wants to get on top of blankets. Basically I think it means "I'm hot" rather than needing actual fresh air.

Other miscellaneous cute photos from the past few days:

Dae worked all weekend so I took both kids to the Home Depot free Saturdays. Olin's manual dexterity wasn't quite up to the necessary level. However, we had fun making these little Mother's Day planters.

These guys like climbing into the pack and play, which is stuffed full of random blankets and mattresses. Olin was doing some computing in there on his laptop and Leelee was singing karaoke with his microphone.
Kelly's girls had formed a circle to color. I found it so funny that they had pulled Olin into the circle and he just sat there observing in his little stroller which is meant for a doll, not a human.

Sitting on the side of the bathtub, flossing, with dirty faces. Olin's hair seriously looks like a hedgehog!

Our Starfish

Leelee graduated from the Jellyfish swim lessons and has moved up to Starfish! We were very excited for him. This was his report card today, marking the end of this term:

Teacher wrote: "Good job. Starfish will be a challenge but I think he can do it. Very funny kid"

Leelee came out of nowhere wearing this little fedora hat I bought for Dae to try on. We've got this Kentucky Derby-themed auction coming up and I think this looks very Kentucky Derby-esque.

Elbow updates (PHOTO, but not that gross)

Taken Yesterday - 3 1/2 weeks post op. It looks ok and is healing, but I still can't straighten all the way or come close to bending all the way. My physical therapist said even with my lack of full range of motion, I am doing really well and progressing quickly.  She said some people can barely bend at all in the beginning. I can't imagine!
