Happenings

We went to a couple of birthday parties last weekend and I snapped a few photos below. The second photo seems random, but the reason I posted it is because that 3rd boy was SO cute. He's the younger brother of the 4th boy, and all throughout this photo shoot he was getting stepped on and smashed and just laid there, totally motionless, not at all crying. His mom said he is "sturdy, and used to it because of his big brother". It was so funny.

Olin observations:

1) This guy is a picky eater, confirmed. He does NOT like vegetables and will swat away at my hand. He does, however, love pretty much all carbs. Breads, chocolate, eggo waffles, ice cream. He is my son, that's for darn sure.

2) He really dislikes laying on his stomach. The minute he's plopped on his stomach he starts fussing and crying. He does like laying on his side a lot. It's always a good sign when we lay him down for the night and he immediately turns onto his side...that means he's tired and ready for sleep. If only it happened more often :)

Fuzzy photo, but this 3rd boy was seriously making me laugh

First time on a swing. We got some smiles out of him, but it seemed like he could take it or leave it!

Olin 9 Months

Olin's 9 month stats were a little dismal:

Height: 7th percentile (2 foot 3 inches)
Weight: 10th percentile (18 lbs 3 oz)
Head: 94th percentile (18.74 inches)

Large head, smaller body? Poor little thing...here I thought he was eating so well and gaining so much weight!

Haircut

This has to be one of my favorite new pictures of Leelee. I am totally cracking up every time I look at it. I cut his hair tonight because it was getting slightly out of control, and I wet it and slicked it back before I cut it, resulting in this photo op. He's so darn cute! (It's like some sort of young, Asian Elvis!)

Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's day. Happy Father's day to Dae and my dad! Love you both! We had brunch at Mother's Bistro (funny, it being Father's day) which was delicious as always. Dae and his dad watched a little golf, I napped with the little guy, we took the kids to the park, then Halmoni made some spaghetti for dinner. All in all a good day.

A couple days ago Leelee asked me to ride on his little red car with him. He said there was room right behind for me to sit. I said I couldn't fit on the car. He said "Why? Is your neck too big?" haha!

Klepto

Leelee five-finger discounted a package of M&M's today from Safeway. I had no idea. I had gone to Safeway to pick up bananas and a bottle of water before jogging down to Jamison Park. When we got to Jamison park I noticed a package of M&M's in the stroller and wondered how those might have gotten in there. Leelee later said "Look, mom, those M&M's are from Safeway!". Well I knew I had not paid for them and told Leelee that we are not to be taking things from the store without paying for them!

Olin has been fussy as can be the last few days. I'm trying to blame it on his new tooth. However, he has been fussy about everything. If I come home from work and give Leelee a kiss before Olin, Olin will squeal until I come over and pay attention to him. Likewise, if we are eating anything delicious (for instance, ice cream from Salt & Straw today) he squeals until we give him a lick of the ice cream. He's becoming a vocal little guy!

Oh, also it was confirmed today that no Lee or Bian is meant for the water life. Olin wanted nothing to do with the water at Jamison Park. He hated it! Big sigh...

Leelee insisted on taking the camera and played photographer tonight at the Vascular barbecue at Erica Mitchell's house. He did a fairly good job considering my expectations!

I actually took this one.

Fire Trucks

One nice thing about living in a condo is that the fire alarm is bound to go off every few months or so, which means the fire truck comes roaring around the building and parks right in front. Dae took Leelee to go see the action last week when the fire alarm was set off, and said the firemen were really nice and asked if he wanted to go inside the fire truck. Of course he did! The fireman said he didn't have any stickers on him but if he came by the station they would give him a sticker and a hat. We will have to take them up on that.

Tonight haraboji entertained Olin by throwing the ball back and forth. He loved it! Halmoni did sidewalk chalk art with Leelee on our balcony.

Posting Frenzy & New Tooth

I've got a lot to blog about as you can tell.

Olin finally cut his first tooth! Lower right front incisor, otherwise known as #P. That little funny guy. We wondered if he was ever going to get teeth, and of course the one week we are away and can't check on his teeth, he cuts it. The first thing I did last night was run my finger along his gums to see if a tooth had come in while we were gone!

Leelee says "actually" all the time.  I'll say, Leelee, I'll read you one more book tonight. He'll pause, then respond "Actually, five".

And lastly, Dae had his final, final graduation dinner last weekend at the annual Surgery dinner at the Zoo (Cascade Grille, to be precise! We had a chuckle over that one). Ev has yet to send me photos (hint hint) so I will post once I get them. We are so proud of you Dae!!! Only 16 years of education you've endured after high school and you are finally done!

Photos from Puo Puo's visit last weekend

She brought cool toys from Taiwan that Leelee looooves.

Mexico Sans Kids - a Zillion Pictures

Dae and I got back yesterday from 5 refreshing and relaxing days in Cabo sans kids. It is so sad when sleeping is the most exciting thing on our agenda. No clubbing, no nightlife...sleeping. We had a really good time and got roped into attending not one but two timeshare presentations with the promise of vouchers to restaurants and activities as incentive. Of course I am all over freebies so there wasn't exactly a lot of arm twisting going on. Dae and I both came to the conclusion that if he were there on his own he would have been the proud owner of at least 2 timeshares when this trip was over! To put it mildly, he's an easy sell. Good thing he has the voice of reason (me) with him at all times.

It's amazing how much you can get done when it's just the two of us. Our last day there we went a little over board and went stand-up paddleboarding (I have wanted to do this for soooo long!), took a 3 hour snorkel cruise complete with all-you-can-drink, and from there went straight to the boat which took us parasailing. By the end of our activity-athon we were completely parched, burned and exhausted from physical activity. Oh, Dae also joined in on a pick-up game of volleyball while we were waiting for our shuttle which resulted in us barely making the shuttle and boarding the shuttle drenched in sweat. (The driver even handed him a towel before boarding). Dae claims his jeans are much looser post-trip from all the activity - I told him to launder and dry them before making that claim! haha! The hotel was perched on a steep mountainside with golf carts to pick you up and drop you off but I am proud to say I forced Dae to walk up and down the entire trip...saved us a couple of dollars in tips per journey!

On the beach of our hotel.
So I am terrified of spiders and have never seen the Dae equivalent of terror until we jumped off our snorkel boat into the waters of the bay. He was absolutely terrified. I mean I knew he had had a hard time passing the Cornell mandatory swim test and had told me he was basically floating on his back the last of 3 laps but I didn't actually realize he had a fear of deep water and drowning. Poor Dae.  The crew had walked around offering lifejackets and Dae, trying to put on a brave macho face, had declined, but the second he jumped into the water he was furiously paddling back to the boat to fetch one of those jackets. And all for nothing! - the snorkeling basically was terrible. The water was murky and not calm so we couldn't see anything. We basically just swam to shore, laid out on the beach, made sand angels and waited for the whistle to blow signaling lunch. I hope we fare better in Hawaii with snorkeling this summer!

Many of these snorkeling photos were taken by the photographer on board and then we got the CD from him for $20. (A deal considering the swimming with dolphins place wanted $139 for their CD! Rip-off!)

We got this underwater camera and of course had to try it out with a hundred different poses.

Don't let my calm smile fool you - I fell in twice!

Alive...barely

(Dae's going to hate me for posting these!) Dae wanted help with his posture - this is the "Before"

"After" posture correction
